Job Details

The Institute of Cancer Research is searching for an experienced Clinical Trials Programme Manager to sign up with the Cancer Research UK Clinical Trials & & Statistics Unit (ICR-CTSU) at its Sutton website in Surrey. ICR-CTSU runs a varied portfolio of nationwide and international phase III multi-centre randomised regulated trials, and phase II targeted treatment trials, with an unique emphasis in breast, urological, lung and head and neck cancer treatments.

The post offers an excellent opportunity for a passionate and well-motivated individual with scientific trial experience to work in a dynamic and encouraging scholastic environment at one of the leading National Cancer Research Institute cancer trials units. The successful prospect will join the ICR-CTSU Management Group and responsibilities will consist of:

  • The strategic oversight of a defined programme of research within the ICR-CTSU portfolio;
  • The advancement and initiation of new trials;
  • Providing operational oversight of dedicated trials groups to ensure effective trial delivery.

Key Requirements

Applicants should hold a first degree or equivalent level certification in life science or health related subject and have an in depth understanding of the concepts of Good Clinical Practice, Data Protection, Research Governance and the Human Tissue Act. Experience/knowledge of laboratory quality systems and treatments is extremely preferable. Outstanding interpersonal skills are required, as is the ability to work to high requirements throughout a range of jobs with continuous regard to scientific and regulative requirements. A proven track record in the preparation, coordination and conduct of scientific trials within the NHS or academic community, a CRO or a pharmaceutical company is important.
