About Us

The Institute of Health Sciences Education (IHSE) is one of six institutes that forms the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FMD). IHSE is responsible for the delivery of the Faculty’s medical degree programmes. We are committed to delivering the highest quality training and have received awards for innovation, teaching and training.

The 5-year MBBS and 4-year Graduate Entry Programme MBBS (London) run by us, delivers excellent student experience, and consistently ranks among the best in London and across the UK.

Delivery of an innovative early year’s curriculum is supported through a purpose built clinical and professional skills centre, and dedicated teaching room with anatomical specimens, videos and specialized computer imaging to build foundational medical knowledge. The latter years curriculum is delivered across nine NHS providers with medical students also undertaking placements in general practice in all five years of the MBBS.

About The Role

We wish to continue with the development of our MBBS leadership team and succession plans for our next generation of educational leaders by appointing to the post of Clinical Senior Lecturer (with the associated role of Head of MBBS (Year 3))

Based from our Whitechapel Campus, you will make contributions to student education and experience through curriculum development and the delivery of teaching activities in the subject area of medical education.

Alongside your substantive Senior Lecturer post, there is also the opportunity to hold (for a 3-year period) the pivotal role of Head of MBBS (Year 3).

As such, you will be provided with the time and opportunity to take full accountability and ownership of the education delivery within IHSE, and in partnership with our NHS partners, lead on all aspects of Year 3 teaching across MBBS.

Year 3 MBBS is pivotal in the transition from the early to later years curriculum therefore this role is crucial in shaping the agenda for our students and positioning QMUL as the best place for delivering medical and healthcare professions education in London, and the UK.
