The Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine is looking to appoint a skilled and professional administrator as the Business Operations Officer to support the Faculty’s Executive team which comprises the Faculty’s academic leads
The successful applicant will:
- Have a strong work ethic, be good at responding to requests for assistance, and an ability to forge strong working relationships
- Have a keen eye for detail with a systematic approach to work, delivering work in line with established processes
- Have a good level of proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office 365 suite of applications and have used web content software
- Have excellent verbal and written communication
- Be able to complete basic analysis to inform their work prioritisation
This post will be offered on an indefinite contract.
This is a full-time post – 100% full time equivalent.
Essential criteria
- Minimum level 3 qualifications, e.g., NVQ3, HNC, A levels, AS levels, International Baccalaureate diploma or other Level 3 qualification, plus work experience in relevant operational/administrative posts OR Considerable knowledge and skills gained through work experience in relevant operational/administrative posts with a clear progression in increasingly demanding jobs
- Evidence of an active commitment to career development with the application of learning to the work context
- Knowledge and practical use of a range of operational/administrative skills and systems relevant to the job
- Strong communication skills with clear spoken and written English with experience of writing minutes, action logs and reports v. Strong interpersonal and influencing/behavioural skills with experience of establishing a network across and between organisations
- Demonstrate a genuine commitment to the work of the Faculty and to making the world a better place through excellence in education, research and service to society
- Numerate with basic/intermediate analytical skills and keen eye for detail
- Strong planning skills, able to manage competing priorities and work with minimal supervision
- Experience of organising and managing one or more of the following: events, projects, meetings and committees
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 applications, including PowerPoint and Excel
Desirable criteria
- Experience in advising colleagues, and providing feedback on performance
- Working knowledge of regulations and best practice governing area of work, including General Data Protection Regulations, to ensure compliance
- Experience of working in the higher education sector and/or a complex, dispersed organisation
- Training or qualification relevant to the post
- Experience of using web content software
