Our success comes directly from the people we work with and as we continue to grow rapidly, we’re always on the lookout for like-minded people who want to make a positive impact through exceptional customer experiences.

The role: We’re searching for an experienced UX Research specialist to play a pivotal role in scaling our UX research capabilities and take our research practice from good to great. We have ambitious growth plans and are looking for someone to shape our Research Operations service and the strategy and roadmap for how we deliver it. Our Product & Design team relies on qualitative and quantitative data to help us better understand our customers’ behaviours and needs, and as our Research Ops Specialist, you’ll be responsible for orchestrating all of the behind-the-scenes logistics that make our generative and evaluative research happen at Faethm. This position will be part of Faethm by Pearson’s Product & Design team and will report to the Head of Design.

What you will do:

  • Establish a more mature research practice at Faethm by Pearson and set up best-practice frameworks and processes for our research methods, tools, templates and documentation.

  • Provide leadership on research techniques to ensure all Faethm products are user-focussed and solve real user pain.

  • Coach and mentor our product designers on research techniques to improve efficiency and consistency.

  • Organise research brainstorms, internal research critiques and any other processes to build up an insights-driven and user-led product design space.

  • Set up a self-service central hub to store research information and findings from current and previous research projects.

  • Participate in all aspects of research activities including writing scripts, facilitating interviews and focus groups, synthesising insights and communicating findings and recommendations effectively.

  • Coordinate the end-to-end participant recruitment process for remote and in-person research activities, manage budgets and oversee an in-house participant database to track participation and manage communications.

  • Develop guidelines and processes for accessibility and inclusive research, community, and ethical use of data and insights.

  • Ensure our recruitment and data storage processes are compliant with Legal and Data Privacy (GDPR) for every region we operate in.

To be successful in this role, ideally, you have:

  • Practical knowledge in research within a fast-paced tech or late-stage start-up environment with the operational services required to make research successful (e.g. user recruitment, tools and templates, knowledge management, policies and governance, legal requirements etc)

  • Strong understanding of how user research functions and are comfortable providing strategic guidance to teams to help them move through the research process.

  • Excellent project management, organisational and creative problem-solving skills.

  • Strong relationship skills, building and maintaining good working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Experience in maintaining and progressing research operations.

  • Proven experience in quantitative and qualitative techniques and methodologies.

  • 5+ years working in research ops or equivalent roles such as UX Researcher.

  • 2+ years of experience hiring, building and mentoring high-performing Research Operations and/or UX Research teams.

  • Experience in data privacy policies (CCPA, GDPR, etc.), onboarding and managing contracts & relationships with vendors (including participation in vendor sourcing & selection, drafting SOWs, negotiating scope, cost), procurement, and expense management systems.

  • In-depth experience with UX research tools including Dovetail.

  • Strong process knowledge including User-Centred Design, Design Sprints, Agile and other process methodologies used in the digital environment.

Join Faethm and you will: Work for an inventive, purpose-driven and civic-minded company with an ambitious but realisable mission and vision that tackles a very real and globally important issue. People are our secret sauce. What are you waiting for? Come and work with an amazing team of professionals in an autonomous, agile, yet supportive and flexible environment.
