The Opportunity

The Faculty of Education has an international reputation for excellence in research and teaching – acknowledged by our students, end-users and partners and demonstrated through our rising position in international rankings. Within the Faculty, our new School of Education, Culture and Society (to be led by Professor Susan Robertson) is looking to appoint an outstanding academic to join our high-performing team. The Associate Professor of Educational Policy is expected to make a significant contribution to all activities of the organisational unit or interdisciplinary area and play a significant role within their profession or discipline.

The Associate Professor in Education Policy will complement and strengthen existing expertise in this area within the School of Education, Culture and Society and across the Faculty of Education. In particular, we seek a new colleague who can foster links within and across the University (e.g. through Monash’s Better Governance and Policy initiative) as well as externally, in Australia and internationally. The Associate Professor will be an outstanding teacher and, especially in the initial period of their appointment, be prepared to spend a considerable amount of time leading the development of new units, courses and programs drawing on their policy research and educational expertise. In the future, this position will be expected to take on a leadership role in the School for a term (e.g. Research Lead or Graduate Research Lead).

Reporting to the Head of School, the Associate Professor of Educational Policy is responsible for fostering research excellence and impact through procuring competitive research grants, leading significant research projects and working with other staff to develop research links.
