
There is a vacancy for a permanent position as Associate Professor at the Department of Comparative Politics, the University of Bergen. The position is open to all fields and methodological approaches within comparative politics. Women are strongly encouraged to apply.
Qualifications and personal qualities:
- Applicants must hold a PhD in comparative politics or political science. The evaluation of the applicant’s publications will focus on research published within the last five years (time will be added in case of parental leave). The applicant’s plan for future research projects will also be emphasized.
- Experience in initiating, managing and operating externally funded research projects is desirable.
- Further emphasis will be put on the applicant’s teaching portfolio. The successful applicant must be willing and able to teach compulsory courses at both graduate and undergraduate level at the Department.
- Personal aptitude and cooperative skills will be of great importance.
General information:
The teaching language will normally be Norwegian. The successful applicant must be able to teach in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language within three years.

At the Social Science Faculty, female associate professors receive a starting package of 100.000 NOK as research allowance, and gain the right to research leave in half the normal time, i.e. one semester research leave after 1,5 years (link).
