The UCL School of Slavonic & & East European Studies (SSEES– the school) is seeking to recruit an Associate Lecturer (Teaching) in Sociology (Grade 7), to start from 1 September 2022.
The post holder will be needed to:
- provide top quality mentor in Social Theory and Political Sociology at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels;
- mark and offer feedback on student assessments;
- monitor and examine dissertations;
- offer academic and pastoral assistance;
- carry out relevant scholarship and pedagogic development activities.
This position is to change a member of personnel currently bought out on a research study grant for 24 months.
To be appointed, the post holder will be required to have: a PhD or be close to completion in Sociology or an associated discipline; extensive understanding of social science pedagogy; experience of mentor social sciences at University level; experience of leading the preparation, development and shipment of mentor, assessment, and feedback; outstanding interpersonal and interaction abilities; experience of utilizing virtual learning environments. The following experience would be preferable, but not necessary: experience of providing supervision and scholastic and pastoral care to undergraduate and/or postgraduate students; demonstrable experience of contributing to the evaluation of mentor provision and/or the trainee experience; experience of carrying out an administrative and/or management role( s) within an academic environment; and experience of mentoring and/or supervising Postgraduate Teaching Assistants.
