The Department of Geography at UCL is a research-led department with a global track record, using ingenious mentor programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The UCL Department of Geography is seeking to designate a 0.5 FTE, one-year fixed term Associate Lecturer (Teaching) from 5 September 2022. The post-holder will mainly be accountable for delivery of the joint final year undergrad and MSc module ‘Cartography and Data Visualisation’, together with small portions of other modules, in addition to the shipment of undergraduate tutorials. The role also has an allowance of time (15% of 0.5 FTE) for research study and professional advancement.

The position will support cartography and geographic data science teaching throughout the Department with particular responsible for lectures and workshops on parts of the following modules: Cartography and Data Visualisation (UG/PGT) and Data, Politics, and Society (MSc Social and Geographic Data Science)

The position will also contribute to the coordination, teaching and shipment of other undergraduate module( s) based upon the teaching needs and applicant’s abilities within human geography (e.g. Geography in the Field 1 and 2) and be responsible for providing 1st year tutorials that accompany the core Thinking Geographically modules. The Department motivates applications from those trained in human geography or a large range of pertinent social science fields however who can undertake tutorial assistance throughout our 1st year curriculum. Applicants need to show an ability for teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
