About us

The Access and Widening Participation Office leads the development and implementation of UCL’s strategies to widen access to UCL from under-represented groups. The Access Team is responsible for changing UCL’s intake of students from underrepresented groups. The team delivers a programme of activities for Year 12 students and works closely with faculties and departments, supporting them to develop local WP action plans to close access gaps for underrepresented students.

About the role

The Access Officer will organise and run a strand of the Access Team’s programme of centrally-run projects as part of UCL’s widening participation strategy and Access and Participation Plan. The activities are aimed at highly able prospective students from underrepresented groups, teachers, and HE advisers. This varied programme includes Year 12 summer schools, IAG events, school visits, and working with Student Ambassadors. This is an exciting time to join a busy, friendly, and enthusiastic team and the postholder will have the opportunity to make contributions to the development of new and existing projects. There are three fixed-term roles, with respective end dates of 31 December 2023, 12 April 2024, and 31 July 2024. This role you are apply for is ending on 31 July 2024. About you

The successful applicant must be able to work effectively in a large team and will have an enthusiasm for widening participation in Higher Education, together with experience working with secondary schools and children or young people. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate their experience in coordinating projects and events, and their ability to manage their own workload whilst prioritising a high volume of complex work effectively.
