Academic Support Librarian

Location: LCF – Stratford, London UK

Hours: Part time – 21 hours per week

You will contribute to the development and delivery of high quality and customer-focused library services which support the academic activities of the University and its constituent Colleges.

You will have functional responsibility, along with another member of staff for Customer Service at the LCF Library, which includes overseeing local frontline services and representing the LCF Library in department-wide working groups.

You will support specified courses/programmes of study, participating in course committees. You will establish constructive working relationships with course teams, and promote access to resources, collections and services through effective academic liaison, collection development and information dissemination.

You will assist in the provision of enquiry services and develop learning materials which encourage the use of resources and services.

You will line manage a small team and be responsible for providing professional leadership in your functional area. 

About you

We are looking for someone with a degree level qualification and relevant work experience. You will be able to motivate a team and work independently without direct supervision. 

You will create realistic plans to achieve the agreed deadlines and objectives of the role, and ensure all team members understand what is expected of them and that work is delegated appropriately, monitoring each staff member’s progress through the University’s probation and appraisal schemes.

You will have excellent written and oral communication skills, be IT literate and have some interest in the subject areas of UAL.

A recognised library qualification or relevant experience in other education or information roles and related disciplines is desirable (e.g. library or teaching post graduate cert/dip/MA/MSc., CILIP accreditation, NVQ or apprenticeship).
